Taicang Marine signed an investment and construction contract with Changshi Zhoushan Shipyard for three 1091TEU container ships (SS297/298/299). On the morning of June 30, the first 1091 TEU container ship SS297 was inaugurated in Qingshan Processing Workshop of Changshi Zhoushan Shipyard. The general manager of Changshi Zhoushan Shipbuilding, Erlang Sato and other representatives of the factory, the president of NK China, Dong Shiyan and other representatives of NK Classification Society, the secretary of the Party Committee and the chairman of Jiangsu Ocean Shipping, Chao Yang and other representatives of the shipowners, and representatives of the three leaders attended the commencement ceremony to witness this important moment together.
In the processing workshop, Chao Yang, secretary of the Party Committee and chairman of Jiangsu Ocean Shipping, confirmed the steel plate. Ding Banglin, secretary of the Commission for Discipline Inspection, pressed the ignition button, and an arc light flashed, causing warm applause on the scene. Liu Bing, the deputy general manager, signed the commencement certificate on behalf of the ship owner, which marked the official commencement of construction of the new ship SS297.
1091TEU container ship is a new ship type developed and optimized by Changshi Group. It is favored by the industry for its environmental protection, low consumption, high efficiency and other advantages. The project ship SS297 has a length of LOA146.00 m, a molded width of 23.35 m, a molded depth of 11.50 m, a structural draft of 8.50 m, a total tonnage of less than 10000 tons, a deadweight of about 13300 tons (structural draft), a container capacity of 1091 TEU, and an average weight of about 725 TEU for 14 MT HOMO, which has the highest loading capacity compared with similar ship types. It adopts a low resistance hull shape, is installed with a ballast water treatment system, uses double shell treatment for the fuel tank, and takes the electric injection common rail diesel engine as the driving force, MT-FAST energy-saving equipment is installed, which is advanced in design, energy saving and environmental protection, and meets the EEDI indicators of the third phase of the international rules on greenhouse gas emissions, which will fully meet the needs of Taicang sea container related routes.
The construction of the new ship SS297 has also become a good start for Taicang Marine and Changshi Zhoushan Shipbuilding to work together. The two sides are committed to building three container ships into boutiques and models.
